Summary
In this video I walk through the complete process of editing a product in our e‑commerce platform, emphasizing that all content must be entered in French first because French is the site’s primary language and will later be translated to English in a separate tutorial. I start by navigating to the Products section and selecting a product. I explain the two description fields: the main (long) description and the short description, which is just a copy of the main one, so any change made to the long description must be duplicated in the short description. On the right‑hand side I point out where to upload or replace the product image and how to verify or change the product’s category if it’s incorrectly assigned.
Next, I move to the "Product data" panel, noting that the product is set up as a variable product. I show how to define attributes such as "character", "liter", and "gallon" and then create individual variations for each attribute combination. For each variation I demonstrate how to set the SKU (stock‑keeping unit), regular price, weight, stock status (in stock, out of stock, or back‑order), and any other custom fields.
I then cover pricing options, including how to put a product on sale. I explain that the sale price appears in red on the front end and that you can schedule a sale by selecting a start date and an end date. The platform will automatically revert to the regular price when the scheduled end date passes, so there is no need for manual removal. Finally, I remind the viewer that after making all French‑language edits, the next video will demonstrate how to generate the English translation.
Throughout the walkthrough I stress the importance of keeping the French version as the source of truth, copying changes consistently between description fields, and double‑checking categories and variation attributes to ensure the product displays correctly on the storefront.
