Summary
In this video I give a quick walkthrough of the two new abilities I added to Project Core. First I explain the idea behind Storm Guard, a protective stone shell that surrounds the player for a few seconds when an attack is incoming. Then I describe Earth Alarms, a cross‑hair‑focused ranged attack for earthbenders that lets them fire long‑range projectiles repeatedly.
After the brief overview I start the live demo at the 1:05 mark. I equip the Earth Alarms ability and point at a distant creeper and skeleton, showing that the crosshair can target mobs (and players) from far away. The demonstration is shaky – I miss a few shots, stumble over the controls, and even say "shit" when the ability doesn’t behave as expected.
Around the 2:00 mark I switch to Storm Guard. I try to activate the stone shell while a zombie approaches. The guard only lasts a few seconds, offering very limited protection, and I quickly comment that it feels ineffective, even shouting that I’m going to die. I attempt to reactivate it a second time, but the same timing issue occurs.
Towards the end (around 3:45) I reflect on the two abilities: Earth Alarms feels very powerful ("OP"), while Storm Guard feels under‑powered. I wrap up by asking viewers for feedback and suggestions for balancing the skills.
Overall the video showcases the concepts, demonstrates both abilities in‑game, highlights current shortcomings, and invites community input.
