In this video, I walk through how to download data from Dealer Studio for the purpose of sending bulk SMS or EDM. First, I highlight that bulk SMS can be done directly within the system by selecting contacts and following a three-step journey to build a campaign. It's crucial to note that there's an 'opt in to marketing' field on every contact, which is essential for complying with Australian privacy principles. When sending promotional SMS, the system warns if a contact has opted out. To download data, there are two methods: exporting to CSV, which dumps the entire database, and using the reports feature, which allows for filtering. I recommend using reports to filter contacts, such as those opted into marketing and specific statuses like 'new contacted' or 'test drive complete', excluding statuses like 'delivered', 'contract signed', 'VIN assigned'. The report can be generated with various filters including personal or commercial customers, source, and tags. Once generated, the report can be downloaded as a CSV file, which includes the 'opt in to marketing' column, allowing for further filtering before being passed to the EDM system.
